York Racecourse is pleased to confirm that Nick Cheyne is to join the York Race Committee, the body that oversees the operation of the leading racecourse.
Already well known in the racing world, Nick brings a wealth of experience from his current roles as a Partner at Weatherbys Hamilton and on the board of Warwick Racecourse; having been Clerk of the Course at Ascot and Sandown Racecourses, time spent working in the City, as well as having begun his involvement in the sport as Assistant Trainer to James Toller in Newmarket.
The other members of the Committee remain; its Chairman Lord Grimthorpe, Nicholas Wrigley, William Bethell, Bridget Guerin and Christopher Denny.
Lord Grimthorpe announced the appointment at the 246th staging of the Gimcrack Dinner, held at the racecourse on Tuesday 13 December, saying “Nick’s energy, experience and insight will be valuable as we strive to make York the best place to bring a horse and to come racing.”
Speaking about his latest role, Nick Cheyne said, “It is an honour to have been asked as York has long been one of my very favourite tracks. I consider that it is about building on the excellent work of my fellow members, in the development of the racing programme, facilities and experience of going racing at York”.
