Hoping for further interest from Japan for the Juddmonte International

York Racecourse are hoping for further interest from Japan in their flagship Juddmonte International in 2026.

Danon Decile finished fifth to Ombudsman on the Knavesmire in August and went on to third in last weekends Japan Cup in Tokyo. They also had a York runner in 2024.

York are expected to announce more details of their plans for the race and the prize money in the next couple of weeks, and Chief Executive William Derby, just back from being trackside for Japan's big race, won by a European trained horse for the first time has spoken positively of his hopes.

Applications open for the 2026 Ernest Cooper Macmillan Ride of Their Lives

The search is on for 12 riders who will get the chance to compete in the annual Ernest Cooper Macmillan Ride of their Lives at York Racecourse next June.

The race is part of British Racing's biggest charity day which raises hundreds of thousands every year for Macmillan Cancer Support.

You need to meet a minimum commitment to fund raising and prove to the judges you deserve the right to a coveted place and the time to prepare for a once in a lifetime experience.

Elizabeth Anderson rode in the race in 2025 and cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience.

Paul Mulrennan speaks to Mike Vince ahead of the 2025 Coral Sprint Trophy

A maximum field will line up for the Coral Sprint Trophy, the highlight of the final day of York's season on the Knavesmire on Saturday.

It's a hotly contested contest with Red Strike bidding to win the £100,000 cavalry charge for the third time in four years.

His rivals include the Michael Dods trained pair of Northern Ticker and Commanche Falls, separated by just a head when they fought out the finish to the Constantine Handicap at the Ebor Festival.

Jockey Paul Mulrennan, who won the friday feature on Astrazar in a desperate photo finish, will ride Northern Ticker.

David Egan ahead of the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes

17 sprinters will charge down the 5 furlong straight in the fastest race of York's Ebor Festival, the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes, the Group 1 highlight of Day 3 on the Knavesmire.

It's a wide open renewal, with the field including two two year olds bidding to join an illustrious list of those who have hit the jackpot in their first season in the sport.

Asfoora is a welcome visitor from Australia while the Irish challenge is headed by Arizona Blaze.
