RCA Showcase & Awards 2017 – The RCA Outstanding Achievement Award
The Racecourse Association is delighted to announce that the inaugural of the RCA Outstanding Achievement Award is Alison Storey of York Racecourse.
Alison, Chief Receptionist at York, is the first point of contact for customers from initial enquiries through to raceday and her work ethic perfectly embodies York’s brand essence of ‘Champion Performance’.
Already a winner of the “Customer Service Champion” from the Visit York Awards, Alison’s entry stood out owing to her determination to treat every customer as an individual, an impressive feat given that 365,000 racegoers enjoy York every year.
If a racegoer needs an umbrella, phone charger, sun cream, or even a sewing kit - Alison is their saviour. Uniting racegoers with lost property is another task for her sleuthing skills.
Maggie Carver, RCA Chairman, who presided over the panel that decided the winner, said: “I am absolutely delighted for Alison and she is a very worthy winner of the first ever RCA Outstanding Achievement Award.
“It was incredibly heart-warming to read about her devotion to York Racecourse and you can really tell that Alison plays an integral part in helping the team there deliver an exemplary level of customer service. Alison’s pride for working at York Racecourse helps ensure they deliver a first-class experience to every single customer.”
William Derby, Chief Executive of York Racecourse, said “Alison has been a fabulous ambassador for York Racecourse for over 18 years, working tirelessly and always with a smile.
“A first point of contact whether by phone, email or in person, she offers a kind word and a warm welcome. She would be the first to say she is only part of a team, yet that team and I are so proud of her, and are thrilled that the spotlight of this award has recognised her seemingly never-ending talents.”
