Spanish Mission wins the 2021 MAtchbook Yorkshire Cup
Spanish Mission, trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by William Buick has landed the Matchroom Yorkshire Cup, the feature of the final day of the Dante Festival at York.
He stayed on well to beat Irish raider Santiago and favouirte Sir Ron Priestley and book his place in the Gold Cup at Ascot next month and a crack at staying champion Stradivarius.

A memorable week on the Knavesmire for Ed Walker
Primo Bacio has run out an impressive winner of the Oak Farm Stables Fillies Stakes, the chief supporting race on the final day of the Dante Festival at York.
She stepped up on an unlucky seasonal debut to see off some well touted rivals and book her place in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
It completes a memorable week on the Knavesmire for winning trainer Ed Walker, who saddled Starman to win the big sprint on wednesday.

Mark Johnston ahead of the Matchbook Yorkshire Cup
Trainer Mark Johnston is double handed in his bid to land the Matchbook Yorkshire Cup, the feature race on the final day of the Dante Festival at York, for the first time since 2002.
Johnston runs Sir Ron Priestly and Nayef Road in the Group 2 which is part of the British Champions Series, with rivals including the Irish raider Santiago.

Copper Knight has boosted his record at York to 5 wins in 14 starts by taking the feature sprint, the Matchbook Handicap on the second day of the Dante Festival at York.
He also won the race in 2019 and boosted the impressive recent form of trainer Tim Easterby.

William Buick after winning the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes
Highland Lane has emerged as a major contender for next months Cazoo Derby at Epsom by landing the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes, the key classic trial at York.
He maintained his 100 per cent record by swooping late to catch the long time leader Roam Empire, with Megallan eventually finishing second and the favourite High Definition, who looked in need of the run third.
William Buick rode Golden Horn to win the Dante in 2015 en route to his Epsom win and was on board this winner.

Silvestre de Sousa rides a double on day 2 of the Dante Festival
Silvestre de Sousa has claimed the riding honours on Day 2 of the Dante Festival at York with a notable double.
He cruised to victory on Queen Power in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes and in the same colours of his retained owner King Power stormed home to land the listed Westow Stakes over 5 furlongs.
Both horses look set to head to Royal Ascot.

Oisin Murphy after Starman
Starman has shown he's a sprinter to follow by landing the most valuable race on the first day of the Dante Festival at York, the Clipper Logisitcs Duke of York Stakes.
The 5-1 shot, beaten only once in his career, stormed home by a neck from Nahaar, with July Cup hero Oxted third.
It looks like Royal Ascot next for trainer Ed Walker's charge and Oisin Murphy, riding him for the first time, was impressed.
Ryan Moore post Musidora
Snowfall has dealt trainer Aidan O'Brien yet another classic hand by landing the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on the first day of the Dante Meeting at York.
The 14-1 shot gave the Ballydoyle Maestro a first win in the race making almost every yard for Ryan Moore.
