A simple thank you to those who braved the weather and supported the 53rd Macmillan Charity Raceday.
An amazing sum of well over £500,000 has already been raised by the day and the JustGiving pages for the jockeys in the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives, remain open.
The eleventh staging of this race was won by Louis Pern aboard Hartswood, it is an event where twelve intrepid amateurs take on the challenge of getting fit, raising funds and then riding nine furlongs around the Knavesmire in front of a huge crowd. With the generous support of so many, this committed dozen have contributed over £200,000 to the total.
First held back in 1971, Macmillan Charity Raceday has now raised over £10.5 million for good causes; this incredible figure is a credit to so many people who have supported it- thank you all.
