York Racecourse is delighted to have been the only racecourse to win two prestigious accolades at the National Racecourse Association Showcase Awards.
Hosted by Hamilton Park Racecourse, it was the tenth time that the venues of the sport have come together to share best practice and celebrate success over a broad range of categories; with the expert judging panel having to select from a record number of submissions in 2019.
It is always extra special for any organisation when an award is the result of a vote from its customers; so to land top spot in the vote by readers of the Racing Post, is a great credit to everyone involved with the Knavesmire.
After a summer of challenging weather, it is a cause of particular pride that the hardworking Groundstaff Team became the Team of the Year in their category.
The occasion also saw the presentation of Live Tourism Excellence Awards that recognise areas of particularly high achievement. York Racecourse is proud to have met this standard in three distinct categories; Casual Dining, Customer Service as well as Signage & Orientation.
York Racecourse has collected an Award, in each of the previous nine years that the industry has met to share its best practice and celebrate its innovations, including being Overall Champion in 2015.
Commenting on the success, Chief Executive and Clerk of the Course, William Derby, said; “We are honoured to have been recognised by each of the Showcase judges, Racing Post readers and Live Tourism Assessors. It brought back happy memories of the fabulous atmosphere here over the season and offers well deserved recognition to the team that worked so hard to deliver it. I’m delighted that the efforts of Team York have been recognised at the end of one successful season with work already underway ahead of Wednesday 13 May 2020!”
