Tom Eaves on 64th John Smith's Cup

Top Northern rider Tom Eaves is hoping he can break his duck in one of the season's iconic handicaps when he rides Astro King in the 64th John Smith's Cup, Europe's richest middle distance handicap, at York on Saturday.

Eaves has not been able to match his record in Group 1's, particularly sprinters in races like this mile and a quarter showpiece, and he'll be on board Astro King, who finished fourth in the Hambleton Handicap on the Knavesmire in May, for the first time.

He's been speaking with Mike Vince ahead of the big race.

Jody Townend wins the Queen Mother's Cup

Jody Townend is celebrating one of the biggest wins of her career by winning Britain's most valuable and prestigious race for Lady Riders, the Queen Mother's Cup on York's big charity day.

The sister of Ireland's multiple champion jockey also wion her weight in champagne and now faces the dilemma of how to get six boxes of Ayala bubbles from the Knavesmire onto a plane and then home.

She spoke with Mike Vince trackside.

Oisin Murphy after winning the Al BAsti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes

The Foxes, trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by Oisin Murphy has emerged as a major contender for next month's Betfred Derby when storming to victory in the key trial, the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes at York.

Carrying the colours of Leicester City Football Club he swooped late to beat the Irish raider White Birch in a bunch finish.

David Egan on the Boodles Yorkshire Cup

St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov makes his eagerly anticipated seasonal reappearance in the Boodles Yorkshire Cup, the feature race on the final day of the Dante Festival at York.

He faces a strong field as he kicks off on the road connections hope will lead to the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot next month.

The first and second in the Dubai Gold Cup in March are amongst those lining up against him.

He'll be ridden, as usual, by David Egan, who has been speaking with Mike Vince
