12 colts will hope to book their classic tickets by winning the Al Basti Equiworld Dante Stakes, the flagship race of the May Meeting, at York on thursday.
Last year's winner, Desert Crown went on to be the latest in a long list to go on and land The Derby at Epsom, making the Dante the key trial.

York Racecourse have released details of all their Music Acts for 2023, as they confirm tickets for all 18 race days, beginning on Wednesday 17th May are now on sale.
In addition to the traditional Music Showcase weekend at the end of July, there will also be tribute acts after racing on their the saturday meetings in May and September.
And, especially if you are looking for tickets in Limited Capacity areas of the Knavesmire, the message is 'Book as soon as you can'.

As the curtain came down on York's 2022 season on Saturday, the team there were celebrating winning the Racecourse Association Groundstaff Award as the best Flat Track.
It comes at the end of a record season at the Knavesmire for the number of runners and for temperatures, with the panel made up of representatives of the BHA and Trainers and Jockey's trade bodies particularly highlighting their work in the stable areas, which they called 'exceptional'.
